I finally gave in and realised that my phone I have been using for the past 2 or 3 years was due for an update. I have been using a Samsung SGH-A707 (Sync) for a long time now and I loved the phone. I enjoyed many things that this phone allowed me to do. I epically liked the hack-ability of the phone. I have been looking at new phones for the past year but have not found anything that really stuck out as something that I wanted, and was in my budget (mostly the latter). I really want to get a G1 as I have been teaching myself the SDK and am starting to attempt to make apps for Android. I have a few ideas that are just plain stupid but I think people would buy it just for laughs. In order to get that phone I would have to buy the dev version of the phone and that is way out of my means as a college student. I ended up finding a LG CU720 (Shine) on CraigsList for $40. That is about $20 less then I could get it new. It had some scratches but no big deal. The only thing that bugs me is the scratch on the lcd lens. I just bought a new one shipped to me for like $5 and am going to replace it myself when it comes in. I also bought a new battery cover for $5 shipped which gets rid of most of the scratches on it. So in the end, I have an almost new phone for about $10 less then the price they would give me to upgrade my current phone. All in all I think the LG Shine has some strong points but I still found the ability to hack my phone into doing what I wanted it to do with my old samsung phone was a bit better. Either way I am happy with my purchase.
